I am a Nikon Friends since 1994. I think I can answer your question.

FM2 has pure mechanical shutter, 1/4000 sec, but no Aperature priorty mode. It can use even no battery. 90% new is around $2200.


F3 use electronic shutter, 1/2000 sec, but has Aperature priority mode.
F3 HP is the High-eyepoint version. Better than normal F3. 90% new is around $3600.

Both cameras are very good design and good to use. But F3 HP is the better one for collection.

You better buy FM3A because it has both the advantages of F3 and FM2.
