I think it is NOt worth for purchasing as it is NOT a L lens.

If I were you, I'll not buy 3rd manufacturer's lens.

Honestly, I have an interest in 30d.
If I buy it, I wlll buy 70-200, f4 L lens to partner with 30d.

It depends what you are going to shoot and your budget. If you are new DSLR user, I suggest you the 17-70 mm which is equivlaent to 28-112mm.
