I have similar query. Seems that D50 can produce better pictures with less noise. Just that it does not have 1/8000 shutter speed.

It is a good choose if you are a new hand , or you want a len for travaling . D50 + 18-70 len good choose .

I just bought D70s and feel very good about the quality in this price, at around $5000 (body).
I think the picture produced by D50 and D70s are the same quality. Their difference is mainly on the control. D70s has got more dial and buttons, so you can have your adjustment faster.

I m using D50 n 18-70 len , good go for a trip ,

it is also sharp in quality with less weight by using D50 even it is less price

個人覺得D70S比較好,多一點點錢,操作可便一點,因為有雙轉盆,KIT鏡也比較D50的好,
