Chatted with the rep in CANON centre and he advised that 430EX should be good enough for amateur use hence some functions on 580EX II are designed for professional or commercial use.

Please share your comment which one should I buy. I am using 30D and shooting on ocasional basis. Planning to buy a flash light for shooting portrait pictures.
