already bought canon 400d kit and i have ef 75-300, tarmon 28-200, and now i want to get a new lens for protrait. Is EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM good or any suggestion. thanks

Your've covered the range from 28 - 300mm! What's the need for a new protrait lens? You only miss the range of 10-22mm lenses!

If you have many money, go straight to 35 f1.4, 50 f1.2/1.4, 85 f1.2, 135 f2, 200 f.2.8, 70-200f2.8...etc.
