I need some help on deciding between these 2 bodies, they are completely different but they both have points that I like and cannot decide.

5D:
I heard that the dark corners issue using wide aperture e.g. the (85mm F1.8, or the 50mm F1.4) on the 5D is pretty severe, is it really true?

The mirror have a fault causing it to be noisy when shooting and have the danger of flying off?

Should I wait for 5D mk II to come out, even thou it is not confirmed yet.

40D:
Is the focus system better then the 5D because of the new digic III with 14-bit processing and its f/2.8 vertical and horizontal sensitive cross-type central AF sensor?

Is the noise control alot better then the 5D because of its digic III ( this isn't key as I don't use high iso alot, but I thought I'd ask)

I don't mind the 3 fps on the 5D because I am only using a 400D and my older film camera is about 3fps, but of course it would be great if it can do the same as 40D at 6.5fps, I am just worried about the 2 problems stated above other then that I am all fine with the 5D.

Also If the dack corners are severe on the FF 5D, would a 1.3 APS-H crop be better e.g. the 1D mk III?

Oh, you have so many questions. I am using 30D, therefore I am more interested to wait for new 5D. Although 40D is much better than 30D, they belong to the same grade. If I have no camera, I will consider 40D. For you, you have 400D which is quite good, not much different from 40D. If I were you, I will wait until new 5D is issued. And then consider whether I should upgrade to FF camera. During this waiting period, I will fully practise all functions available in 400D and try shooting different kinds of photos and practise different skills. If you have skills, tools become less important. In contrast, if you have good tools but no skills, you cannot take good photographs. If you will consider FF camera, then you should prepare for this upgrade. e.g. buy lens which is used for both FF or non-FF cameras.

Thank you c hing, sorry for the load of questions I fired at you.

I want to upgrade to 5D because of its FF sensor which is better at controlling the noise in high ISO and there is no crop factor to be bothered with.
But the 40D have got the new focus system with all 9 point f/2.8 vertical and horizontal sensitive cross-type central AF sensor along with the new Digic III and 14-bit processing which will affect the colours (because I mostly use Jpeg and hardly use the RAW file type).

But after researching, I heard many users of the 5D say the vignetting problem is fairly sever, and some users actually sold their 5D and bought a 40D instead.
So I just wanted to see if there are any local users here that can give me more details/ advise into this.

I think the whole "noise" issue is blown way out of proportion.

If you blow it up to 300% at photoshop, of course you're going to see noise. And unless you're printing a billboard size picture, that shouldn't even come into play.

I've shot a runway shoot at 800 ISO with my 30D and printed a 16x24 with no noise-ninja edit and I can't spot the noise :)

the crop bodies' noise level is more than reasonable for most amateurs IMO.

If you have EFS lenses, you have to get rid of those when you go FF, but I'm sure you know that already.

I've never heard of the vignette issue on the 5D, but then again that's just me not researching about it as it's not on my radar. Waiting for the IIIn to come out as the III's AF issue is just too troublesome for me to risk.
