17-55 f2.8 is usm is about $67XX, is it waste to sell the kit lens (18-55 is)and buy this similar one?

I think they are totally different... one with f/2.8 and one without... also the quality of picture will be different... if not how to sell at such high price? also who will bring such heavy lens in the street? but the len is quite expensive and heavy...
