They're the same, shorten focusing distance when added, let you move closer to the object.

It's useful for flowers, so you can move within inches from them. I don't think you can move that close to birds though, you need big teles.

You don't need them on today's DCs, they have macro function built-in, only useful on SLR/DSLR.

Macro brings you to the object, high power zoom/tele brings the object to you.

If you want to shoot birds in a distance, buy DC with 10x zoom or more. Macro is irrelevant here.

Sorry.....what i mean is shot small object at long distance away. For example shot insect( Like other post before ), can I do it in DC?

Big or small is relative to the distance, a bug 2 feet away is bigger than a bird 30 feet away. Anyway, high power zoom is what you need.
