Photographing jewelry Post time: 10 月 16 日 |

I am using nikon D50 with nikkor macro 105mm to photo jewelry. Although i am using a tripod (a cheap one), somehow I can't get a clear focus of the object. It seems the camera shocks a very little bit when it takes the photo...I am already using a remote shutter to take the picture. Can someone help me with this, is it because of the tripod or what?

though you use a tripod, doesn't mean that you should apply a slow shutter speed, what was the speed then?

The F45, 1/8sec, manual focus...the result is out of focus for the whole picture. With the same focus but F8, 1/125sec, the picture is fine...but i need to use at least around F45 and manual focus

1. Shoot it farther away from the object to get more depth of field so that you can set larger F stop eg. F16 and higher shutter speed.
Crop the image afterward.
2. Lock the mirror when you take the photo

F45 ? Which Nikon lens offer such a small aperture?
If you use F4.5 with a macro lens and at a very short distance, the depth of field will be too limited, a slight movement would cause the whole thing out of focus. Try a smaller aperture together with a robust tripod.
Save as raw if possible.

A ring flash may be a good idea.
