My friend has asked me to help her restaurant to take pics of the food they rpovided for producing a new restaurant menu(mid to high class restaurant), I am struggling whether natural daylight is good enough since her restaurant is high up in a building with glass curtain walls, so plenty of windows lights. I am using a Canon 30D and have 3 lens to play with...1) 16-35 F2.8L, 85F1.2L & 135F2L. If I need to use flash, then wonder how I should have it setup, is one flash with reflector can do the job since I have a EX430 and can this setup bring out the texture and make the pics look more attractive ? I had seen some good samples with seems like natural lightning to me and ofc ourse studio type pics also looks very appealing, so really appreciate if some high hands can share some thoughts and practical experiences on helping me to complete this interesting project.

構圖同作曲畫畫都係art野, 無得教, 但可以炒, 炒炒下就有自己既一套風格也 ^^ 開始唔知點構圖, 可以試下上網炒下人地d食物相, 研究下人地點打燈點補光, 乜都炒足, 咁樣去學人d攝影眼唔錯架~

不過樓主指明要high hands人教路, 咁就真係小弟無位可以出聲lu :P hehe~~

If it's a "mid to high class resaurant", why not consider to hire a professional photographer ?

If you really want to try, I have the following advices:-

For small photos in a menu, the APS-C format DSLR will certainly do the job.

Your lenses are great, but TS-E 24mm f/3.5L works better for the purposes you mentioned.

Don't employ direct flashes from the front. A single flash may not enough for all kind of dishes. Natural light is of course great, but not appropriate for dishes for dinner.
