It depends on where you will be taking the photographs during the concert. I am assuming you go to the concert as a spectator (not as a press). So you won't be getting very close to the stage.

I had a few concert shooting experience (just for leisure and was shotting free concerts). I was able to get to ~20 feet away from the stage. I use my 70-200 f/2.8 zoom lens. If the lighting is good, ISO 400 speed is good enough. If you have a slower lens, you may need to use higher speed (ISO 800). If you are sitting quite far away (like the peak), I advise you to concentrate on the concerts and not to take any pictures, unless you have a > 400mm lens ^_^

Use of flash is probably not allowed. So make sure you have turned of your flash.

I will also attend a paid concerts on Aug 15 (No Doubt + the Cranberries). I will probably bring my 70-200 f/2.8 lens + a 2x convertor to the venue. I will be sitting in the fifth row. So my set up should be able to get close enough shots.

then, boost up the ISO to maybe 800 or more, it all depends on the lighting conditions.

Use Av mode, shoot at widest aperture.

Thank you very much for your comments, I just brought this dc cam 2 weeks ago and also this is my first cam, so may be some stupid question even don't know, pls. forgive....

At the day 17 Aug 02 I am going to be sit around 10-15 row and I will bring the tele lens x1.85 from raynox, I think is big enough...

For this cam when shooting in the night time or dark place was alway shooting like moving very difficial or may be I am not expert . Can you tell me somemore your experience ......

use Av mode ?? means?? = A (Aperture) ?

so your lens should be long enough. Now let's worry about the exposure.

Since you will be shotting low light, your exposure will need more time. (to allow more light to enter the camera). However, if you exposed too long, you may not hand-hold your camera in a steady way. Also, your subject will move around and your resulting picture will be blurry.

To avoid this, you will need an exposure that is fast enough to avoid handshake and at the same time, long enough to allow light to enter the camera.

To get a sharp picture in concert, basically you will need to do these:
1) adjust to higher ISO (400 or above)
2) make your aperture as wide as possible (to allow more light to enter the camera, wider aperture will also require short shutter speed) i.e. choose the f-number as small as possible

I suggest you try doing some trial shooting at home in the evening. The lighting condition in your living room in the evening will be much worse than that on a concert stage. Then try to find a right exposure to get a sharp picture (by adjusting different ISO, shutter speed/aperture).

In this way better use manual ..M function, this I can adjust by myself
f 2.8 and speed can be over 10 and iso will be 400 I think this can be
better...

In your experience, my suggestion is ok?? I think the lighting
normally similar as night time ...when just on 1 light....or may be
concern better......

呀wcym兄話佢會坐十五行，佢又有teleconvertor，所以應該影到。

演唱會"台上"燈光其實唔算太黑，因為有好多spot light射住個表演者。

Actually I will buy the x1.85 teleconvertor early on next month, any suggestion for me to choose brand of "raynox" ok? or other?
In cost HKD 980.00 for any choose ?
