I think if just expire few months, maybe the quality will not decrease (because a film's quality is the best when it's very close to expire). If you see your film is close to expire and you think you won't use it in a short time, I suggest you to put it into your refrigerator, if I didn't remember wrongly, the film still can use after at least 1-2 yrs expired (keeping in refrigerator, I think -4 degrees). But if too hot, although it's not expire yet, it will also be damaged (because film is afraid of heat).

ps. you can try by using a hair-blower and heat the film up for a few minutes. (haha.... if you have money). Pls correct me if I got any wrong.

Thank you for your reply. I buy your point that film is best when its close to expiry. But experience tells that the color seems to become less saturated if the film is several months after expiry. Worst of all, it remains a mystery whether the chemical (silver oxide???) on the expired film would contaminate/erode the curtain at the back of the SLR.
