《棲處不容》

光影作坊最新展覽《棲處不容》展出攝影藝術家鄭瑋玲以本地內地新移民年青一族為材的作品。

近年移居香港的新移民漸趨年輕化，內地很多八、九十後知識分子為了事業前途，更大發展空間而離開內地家園踏足香港。《棲處不容》此系列正正表達了這群新移民的心聲，他們從未經歷中國長久昏亂的歷史，到此地尋夢卻面對社會大眾的敵意，與生活環境格格不入，毫不自在，背負莫大壓力。鄭瑋玲透過訪問，拋開成見、擺脫地域界限從新認識他們，在作品中展現了這群年輕人棲身異鄉的矛盾、思愁，即使遠離家園，自我意識與國家整體卻緊密交纏著。展覽細訴相中人的生活點滴，而客鄉環境又怎樣影響他們對未來的展望？


Lumenvisum is delighted to present the latest solo exhibition of artist Wei Leng Tay, showcasing her work “Out of Place”, which features recent Mainland Chinese immigrants in Hong Kong.

In recent years, as Hong Kong grapples with its relationship with China, immigrants have continued to move to Hong Kong in search of a better life. Traditionally attracting working class migrants from Southern China, there has been, in recent years, an influx of young educated migrants from all over China. These newcomers, many born in the 1980s and 1990s, who have never personally experienced the long history of conflict that has shadowed the country, are featured in this exhibition. Through audio interviews and photography, Wei Leng Tay focuses on the individual and brings the conversation away from the Mainland Chinese as a group and away from stereotypes. Her works, intimate and nuanced, contemplate the complexity of how personal choices can be shaped by or shape society, and question ideas of insider/outsider identity within Hong Kong society.
