Seriously considering buying a good lens for snapshot. Any Ching can advise which can give better picture quality? Thank you. (I am using D700).

I love 24.4

24mm 1.4 G is with a better quality especially when used wide open.

35mm 1.4G is with matching quality when aperture is 1~2 f-stop smaller. And 35mm is a better focal length for snapshot as you don't need to take care of the barrel distortion as in 24mm. While 24.4G is for more serious shootings such as model portraits.

A standard or wideangle zoom is far much better for snapshots.

35 mm 1.4 and 24 mm 1.4 are too expensive and not useful for the purpose.

For your D700, both N17-35/f2.8 and N16-35/f4 are very good wideangle zooms for snapshots.

Zooms excel in convenience.

Prime lenses excel in picture quality.

So, don't compare 35/1.4 or 24/1.4 with zooms.

10 片 / 7 組 (1 片非球面鏡片, 帶納米結晶塗層)

24/1.4
12 片/10 組 (2 個ED 鏡片, 2片非球面鏡片、納米結晶塗層)

both lens are over 10k, by paying a bit more, 24/1.4 has better value in new and 2nd hand market.

i have both 24/1.4 and 24-70/2.8, there is no way to compare between these 2 lens, 24/1.4 gives you very high quality of pics.
just need to be very careful when you use f1.4, focusing is not as easy as 2.8.
it is not an good idea to take snap shot with f1.4
if you want to take snap shots mainly, normal 24/2.8 already do the job and there is no need to go for the top range of the lens.

but on the other hand, my theory is always go for the top, you won't lose money by selling it in the future where entry level lens is very hard to sell or it becomes really cheap.

回應一下樓上位師兄, 什麼淺景深, 大光圈中唔中焦及一機一鏡, 回想起初玩單反真係一 d 都唔明, 只係睇左個種大光圈立體感, 已經愛上了

以我所知,ringomov & edoxli Ching兩個都不會在乎於器材方便, 由其是ringomov Ching, 佢差唔多所有鏡頭都是副鏡, 但佢影出嚟既相大家有目共睹, 所以ringomov Ching佢係一個好好既磅樣話俾我地知用靚器材未必出倒靚相, 用副廠鏡都可以做大師. 以上只是小弟一些見解, 如有得罪請多見諒
