Checked the Exif data for you.

It is by 450D, first one 55mm, f5.6, iso 800, 1/800".

Second one, 146mm, f5, iso 800, 1/40".

By the way, how do you find the optical quality of 18-200MM IS when compared with kit lens and 55-250mm?

I am going to visit New Zealand. I am thinking of bring 450D, 17-40mm f4L and 55-250mm. But I am joining guided tour in Hong Kong and am worried that there may not be time for me to change lens. Although I really like to take 17-40mm for its superb optical quality, if there is no time to change lens, there is no point of bring it. That's why I ask about the optical quality of 18-200mm IS.

I would say if you can accept the IQ of 55-250 you should be able to accept the 18-200.

Just post some photos for your reference, all by 450D + 18-200.

The duck at 200mm, iso 800, f8, 1/160"
The cave at 18mm, iso 1600, f5, 1/50"
The waterfall 18mm, iso 800, f7.1, 1/13"
The sunset 32mm, iso 200, f8, 1/250"

If you bring 450D, bring along either Sigma 10-20 or Canon 10-22 with you to NZ if you have one or try to borrow from your friends.

You will need it !

I will go to NZ April next year, to support my friend to have trail walker in NZ, I will bring 5D or may Mark II, with 12-24 and 24-105.

Thank you so much for your explanation and photos.

From your pics, I think 18-200mm is better than both the kit lens and 55-250mm in terms of both sharpness and colour.

From your second pic, 450D at ISO 1600 is quite useable too. Usually I only use up to ISO800. Did you apply any noise reduction for your second pic?

Hm......10-22mm... I think I should get either 18-200mm or 10-22mm. Maybe I get 18-200mm and bring my tokina fisheye 10-17mm instead of buying 10-22mm.

For the sharpness, I consider the focusing for 18-200 is better than 55-250 and the IS is very good.

I don't apply any noise reduction, just shoot by RAW and converted by DPP 3.4.1.
