You need the adaptor tube to fit the filter lens at the front.

Canon's original plastic adaptor tube (LA-DC58K) with a 58mm diameter is no good. It gives you dark corners when filter is installed.

If you are really considering adding filter to G10, take a look at this US website (www.lensmate.com), they have a 72mm diameter alumnium adaptor, which gives you a wider field of vision so no dark corners around the edge. But the item itself plus the shipping cost would be about US$60 in total.

But lensmate is a company specializing in producing after-market products, esp. for prosumer DCs, and it's got quite good reputation.
