Don't worry about that! I went to Harbin in 2010 christmas with 5DMK2 which can work properly in -25 "C. The battery was OK even I exposed it outside for long long time.

thanks a lot for sharing some experience. intend to bring 5Dmk1 + 1740L & 2470L. Hopefully body & lens goes well with that freaking cold weather.^^
