I am wondering if the noise reduction is automatically applied during the process of batch converting RAW to Jpeg, or I have to manually click the "apply" button before converting to Jpeg. Thanks.

我冇認真研究過。 但以5d2為例，佢預設已經係有standard的減噪，所以我估就算佢出raw，都已經由相機apply左減噪。 所以你用dpp唔按apply但實情上佢都已經在相機中apply左。 disable左相機的減噪，同一張相再由dpp出（唔按減噪），係見到有分別的。 咁我會假設你要進一步減噪的話，先要在dpp按apply。

但另一個問題係，如你在dpp preview中會睇到一張相的noise，但output左jpg後，好似noise係少左，但你係冇按apply減噪的，我估呢個可能就係你覺得佢會自動幫你減噪的原因。 我都有呢個疑問。 我睇成為個preview其實唔係100%準備，實際出來的照片（jpg）係唔會有咁多noise的。 結論係假如你想noise reduction，就手動在dpp中按apply啦。

以上只是個人觀察，如有師兄知道答案，請指教。

另外，如用5d2的老友，建議disable左個減噪（除非你用高iso1600以上），因為佢會連低iso都apply埋，或多或少會減左少少銳利度。

This is a very good question.

I personally think DPP automatically reduce noise during the RAW ---> Jpeg during BATCH process, because the jpeg from camera when NR set to off produces is a little bit more noisy than DPP's jpeg. But this difference is only seen at high ISO.

It is very difficult to guess whether noise reduction has been applied during the RAW --> Jpeg process when using DPP

Conclusion:
(1) there should no noise reduction when saving RAW in CANON camera
(2) RAW ---> jpeg must have some kind of NR in DPP, at least in high ISO setting [NOT sure for low ISO setting]
(3) it really does not matter whether NR is applied for the RAW---> jpeg process as at least some information of the photos HAS BEEN LOST during conversion
