Im thinking to buy 50 mm. Has anyone used both 50 mm f1.4 and 50 mm f1.8? Is there a big different of their qualities?

For Canon:
sharpness at center, no much difference
sharpness at corner, big difference, 1.4 wins a lot at up to 5.6
price, big difference, 1.8 wins
bokeh, big difference, 1.4 wins a lot
flare, big difference, 1.4 smaller flare
focusing speed, big difference, 1.4 wins
durability, both my 1.8 & 1.4 not yet break apart, but seems the 1.4 uses more metals, should be more rigid.

conclusion,
1. if u don't really care what is "flare", "bokeh", buy 1.8
2. if have enough $, of course buy 1.4
3. if u must buy a 1.4, then please find a sigma 1.4 which does not have front/back focus issue & buy Sigma 1.4, otherwise buy EF1,4
