I want to buy a 2nd hand..... but don't know whether it has lifespan or not....

ALL xenon flash tube has life, but for most 2nd hand flash (especially the lower no. models, e.g. 430, 420, 380, 220EX, it will be very likely that the seller just fired a very small no. of flashes and then it upgrade to higher models, SO IT IS VERY SAFE!

but you must check TWO important things
1. the IR works (if it does not work, but the price of the 2nd hand flash is very cheap, still can buy)
2. no dirty thing attached to the battery contacts (if yes, must give up)


LAST WORD:
A healthy flash-tube must be very clear (no foggy things inside)

attach the flash, don't remove the lens cover, half press shutter button, the red light should light

Remember to also check the communication between the flash and the camera body (zoom range, distance ...etc should also be detected by the flash and shown on flash's screen. That's TTL should perform.
Can also take consecutive picture to check 回電.

2nd hand 430EX, ~ HKD1300 - 1500.
