I ask the CS for the same question
Their answer is that if your CF card already stored an old picture (maybe it is come from other camera), the number of the new picture you just took may follow the number of this old picture.
It is true. For me, I satisfied with the answer.

However, when I asked the CS whether they could check the real shutter count, the answer is they cannot do that. Even their mother company cannot check it out. I wonder if it is true.

I am still looking for a software which can really check the shutter count. Can any C Hing help?
