I've been doing that ... for a few days until the new firmware release which render the $328 adaptor partially useless ...

That said, some Ai-D/Ai-S Nikkors are sharper than the EF equivalent e.g. AF-D 50/1.4 is way sharper than EF 50/1.4 from F1.4 to F2. At F2.8 and beyond, EF is sharper.

Back to the lens thing, never used 24-105/4 IS ... too heavy, too slow (F4) and it's extremely difficult to zoom handheld (not to mention MF at the same time ... unless you have 3 hands). If you have a tripod, go for 24-70/2.8 and you'll be able to play with zoom and MF simultaneously in a smooth manner, while enjoying the shallow DOF.

Mainly use 50/1.4 (sometimes 85/1.8) which aperture and weight advantages are unbeatable. Thinking about a wide angle prime ...

因班大帝worldwide petition 都無要求加自動追焦功能反而要所有野唔Auto 要 manual

Yes, it can track the focus ... well, try to ... the AF process takes ~3s ... in other words, completely useless AF in the video mode!

Personally, I pre-focus the subject first ... MF on LiveView w/o 10X magnification is difficult ...

seems quite difficult wor ... there will also be battery life concerns as the AF motor moves continuously ...

如果用人面對焦，係可以追焦，速度重快過手動auto focus。但問題係人多、行得快、則面就唔work啦。

其實專業拍攝、電影拍攝都多數唔用autofocus，因為control唔倒你想要既拍攝效果。所以有時你見啲戲有某啲shot係out of focus，可能個camera man冇帶眼鏡開工...

外國一d forum已經講o左好一段日子! 好多西人都用包括nikon 手動鏡o係5d mk2道都係因為操作上o既方便! 操作方式同佢地用開傳統video camera基本上一樣! 至於新一代nikon af鏡就應該唔會畀人o甘用! o因為果d鏡o既光圈都已經唔係鏡頭身上! 呢個亦係好多好o既手動鏡價錢被搶貴晒o既原因!
Sharp唔sharp d呢個問題我估都唔係主因! 言而canon o既50 f1.4的確係一枝好sharp o既鏡. 但平心而論, canon,nikon好多今時今日出o既鏡都唔好得過nikon 手動鏡,更何況同o果d德國鏡比.
另外canon應該唔會出一個firmware將部5d mk2變成一部無敵camera/video camera. 理由好簡單, 就係市場策略, 如果佢地攪到部機o甘無敵,佢地自家出品o既video camera就一定唔會有人再買.

From F2.8 onwards only ... I've mounted AF 50/1.4D on 5D2 and AB compared with EF 50/1.4 ... the latter is extremely dreamy while the former is sharp corner-to-corner at F1.4

BTW, you will want to switch off IS in movie mode ... unless you are using a very directional external mic
