Is it good? or Should I get 24mm f/1.4?

睇D測試好似連N14-24 2.8都比唔上，連變焦都比唔上喎，真屎，c14 又唔係平

不如誇張D用一半價錢買s12-24玩，聽聞收一級光圈質數唔算曳，當然不及n14-24 & c14 啦！
咁wide多數都F8-F11影，收了光圈就支支都係好鏡。

It is hard to believe a fix focual length is worse than a zoom len....

I am using this lens atm on my FF, and I love it. it gives me the wide angle with f/1.4, and it handle the distortion better then 16-35mm f/2.8.

the fastest ultra wide in the market, 2x thumbs up ^^

I was thinking of getting a used one from USA before I got my 24 but at the end of the day I want a bit faster wide and I dont really need to go all the way to 14mm

Thanks. Very useful information.
I was thinking about to buy the 24mm f/1.4 too. However, I currently use a 24-105mm and 17-40mm. When I make my decision to give up one of them, 17-40mm is the one. 24-105mm is working fine for me. But I am a little disappointed with the 17-40mm because of the distortion. Basically, it is almost impossible to do portrait shoot properly. Although it is not meant to do a portrait lens, the distortion is just way too bad. Especailly, it is a L lens...

Hi Mr. Chan,

from what you said, I guess you like taking people then landscape. I never used the 14mm 2.8 be4 so I cant give you any idea about that lens with people. However, I used 17-40 and the 16-35 for a while and yes, the distortion is getting out of control. Compare to the 24 MK II1.4 I got now, I found that the 24 MKII is much better if you want to use it for portraiture. ofcoz with that speed of the lens, no complain ^^

hopefully you will make up ur mind soon and take more good photos to show us

I am a landscape shooter. But sometimes I want to put my family in the landscape that's when the problem of distortion really bored me. For portrail shoot, I am quite satify with my 24-105 so far. Of course, if budget is not my consideration, I will definitly get the 85mm f/1.2. haha...

Thanks for sharing. The detail at 4 corner is amazing.

My friend suggests me to wait for the Zeiss wide-angle lens. Hopefully, they will come out by the end of this year. Anyone has used Zeiss before? I don't mind MF because most of the time I use MF when doing landscape shoot.

William, yes, the corners of the foto is amazing. even ken rockwell think that the 14mm is a super hard to use, if you want to use it well ofcoz.

KL, I am not too good in taking landscape. I always think is hard to put a people into a landscape photo and make it looks nice... i mean, it always come ut like a point and shoot, exp in super wide, they either too small in the ratio of the frame or look like an alien with long arms or legs...

I took this pic last time when I go to HK to visit my sis, this is using the 24 1.4 indoor low light with my 5D2. I adjusted the tone in ps.

Nice tune on the picture. It's nice to have a fast lens. I agree, it is not easy to put people in landscape shoot. The only suggestion is get as close as you can.

chooo1244 ching, I try a 17-40 f4 before in some fashion shots, i found that they are good to create mood shots, but not portrait shots. I really want to try out the 14mm. maybe they got type1 to rent in here hehehe

I remember my friend use his 10-22 on his 40D, he a bit more then 6 foots tall, he keep using 10mm to take people in the party... everyone came out like a 死矮仔

Wide angle magnifies the effect. If you use 10-22 shoot from 1 m in the party, that would be a different story.

Wide angles are to create mood shots.... right. Fisheye could also do that.
