Have money then purchase it right away and test it yourself for the pros and cons.
If not, just wait for a month or two after it came out. Let the camera experts test on it, then you can desire to buy it or not. But it might be out of stock at that time.

I have a 5D on hand, it's still in good condition and I love it very much.
I will wait until 1D4 come.
Not because of the price, but want to see if Canon still has some "new" or state-of-the-art technology added to the 1D series


If you don't have any DSLR on hand, and you need it urgent, then buy at once when it released to the market.

If not, you can wait for 6-12 months, until all the bugs and firmware is fixed. Because it is very common for the electronic products to have some hardware/ software problems.

But don't think that the price will drop after 6-12months, even it really does, the percentage is not so significant.
My experience is that 5D II sell at HK$20,800 (newly launch last year) and it's still selling at HK$19,800 or above, sometimes out of stock.
The difference is 5%.

Except the below reasons, the price of 7D will remain:

1) 7D is not attractive to the market and Canon wants to sell out asap
2) Canon wants a bigger market share to beat Nikon & Sony
3) Nikon / Sony has new camera which is much more competitive than 7D
4) 1D Mark IV came out and they have the overlapping target customers, so as to maintain the superior 1 Series, 7D is forced to reduce the price

我見太多人因為呢支鏡o個部機冇貨而煩惱, 又猛咁出post 問邊度有貨/全港冇貨... 日日心掛掛...
其實如果唔係自己冇機. 唔一定要有新機/鏡先影到相. =D
