G10 need a adaptor to take filter. The original Canon adaptor is about $150, and it takes 58mm diameter filter. For G10, Hoya CPL (Circular Polarizing Lens) Filter, about $200, is good enough for the price. But please note that with the adaptor on, the image taken at wide angle (28mm) will have very obvious dark corners. To eliminate the dark corners, you will have to zoom in to about 35mm or even further.

You can buy the original Canon 58mm wide angle (0.7X) converter, which when fitted convert the 28mm lens to 19mm wide. But expect considerable distortion and softness at the edges.

I think the original 28mm is already good enough. If you really need even wider angle, you may as well consider Panasonic LX3, which comes with a 24mm wide angle, but you lose the tele end.

Correct. But the 0.7x wide converter for G9 should be just as fine on G10, as the diameter of the G10 adaptor is the same as that of G9, i.e. 58mm. But the image quality with the wide converter should be the same, i.e expect some softness and distortion.

I suggest that you try to take a few pix with the wide converter before you decide. It's not cheap, at about $1000, and it's extremely bulky.

28mm is good enough lah, no need for a even wider 19mm. For this kind of super wide shot, you should really get a DSLR to do the job.

CPL果個黑角位問題是否只能用放大黎解決，買薄d既鏡行嗎？因為大部份時間用cpl都是想影風景，好似wide d好d

I understand your point, i.e. landscape shots are mostly taken at wide angle, i.e. as wide as possible, and it's landscape shots that CPL filter is most needed....but that's exactly the limitation of a prosumer DC.

No question that G10 is a great camera, and can definitely take great landscape shots, but its compatibility and convenience of adding accessory , as far as I know, aren't all that good. But then again, this problem is rather common in all models of prosumer DC.

You talked about "薄d既鏡", I suppose you mean thinner filter, with an aim of giving dark corners that are not as dark. I really don't think that works.

As far as I know, CPL only comes in one shade of darkness, and it cuts the exposure value by about 2 to 3 stops of aperture. And the effect varies as you rotate the filter.

明白，都係既，g10始終都是一個prosumer DC
另外想問，去旅行咁，有時夜晚影相，較大iso，就會出現多雜訊，特別是室內影人，咁應唔應該買番支外閃？你知啦，旅行不是成日都有得去......要到又無就弊啦
但g10加了外閃，效果會唔會好呢？見上網d人都在談580EX II，但其實加外閃會唔會太頭重腳輕？另有無其他推介？

When I bought my G7, I also bought a Fujiyama 0.5X wide converter. Well, I really can't say the optical quality of it is any good, but it does give you a very wide angle. If you fit it onto G10, it will give you a focal length of 14mm, that is kind of super-wide, but of course nowhere near that of a fish-eye.

it's better than nothing, don't expect too much for a add-on lens!!!
