I never have 75-300mm f4.0-5.6 III USM so I cannot comment

55-250 IS has 4steps IS but no USM.
55-200mm optical quality is no problem
200-250mm is a bit soft but the problem is not serious still

the lens is cheap (abt 1.7k for 1st hand) and it is worth to play. I take 55-250 to my trip for stage performance photos as well and I cannot find any problem with it. The focus is not as fast as USM but acceptable

the butterfly photos are taken with 450D + 55-250 in my dcfever gallery and see if you are satisfied with this level of sharpness

考慮下二手, 價錢會可取一點.
EF 100-300 F4.5-5.6 USM (~$1600)
EF 70-210 F3.5-4.5 USM (~$1600)
EF 70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM (~$3400)

影小朋友表演如果係動態既無usm難影一點.
同埋係台,,可能光會唔夠強.
所以應該考慮下光圈大小小 或 有防震的鏡.

SIGMA APO 70-300 對焦好慢,,唔係呃你...因為我曾經有過.
EF-S 55-250 IS 都有好多人推崇,,可以因應自己情況考慮一下.
順帶一提,, SIGMA 出左 APO 70-300 OS.
