I am also using 5D MKII + a few heavy tele and macro. I have a Manfrotto 190XPROB + 488RC2 head. Not sure about the cost but should be < 2K. They are great for shorter lenses but not as stable as I would like for the longer lenses like 70-200 2.8 or 180 macro. For monopod I have the Manfrotto 682B + 234RC head. The monopod is solid.

I wish I have planned better and knew more about my future needs when I purchased the tripod. After hitting myself a few times in the head, I start realize there are a few trade-offs when it comes to tripod and monopod selections.

Stability - If you plan to have some heavy and long lenses, sure the more stable the better. While I like the 190XPROB very much and it's perfect for shorter lenses, it is a stretch for using with the 70-200 2.8 specially with the smaller RC2 plate.
Usability - Do you also use your MKII to shoot video? If you do may want to try out different heads.
Mobility - This is about the weight and size. A stable tripod platform will be relatively heavy and big even with carbon-fiber.

The other considerations are Durability and, of course, Cost.

在這個價錢下, 好像都是大陸品牌有這個三腳變單腳功能, Benro 及思銳 鋁腳的話, 千來元已有, 如想輕些用碳纖腳就要二三千元了.

我覺得思銳1205+G10波頭都OK, 可拆做單腳. 單腳都可以載大白. $2500左右.

i used BENRO for quite some time... and i always complaining it is too heavy....

i then bought another one GITZO, GT1431, three section.

Its made of carbon fibre, light weight, strong enough to support 70-200 2.8. Ball head, I used 496RC2, i like the fast release which is brilliant.

The GITZO is good enough for life time use and I dont have to buy another one again.

For other heavy tripods, you do not want to carry them around'. If you want to buy a tripod, buy the carbon fibre - MUST.

if you dont have enough money, save some until you can buy a carbon fibre tripod. Buy GITZO, the G lock provides fast lock and release - brilliant design.

My recommendation - GITZO carbon fibre series....

I did some research already..
However I can't support a Gitzo even though it carries really nice tripods.
I am thinking going for Manfrotto... either 055 or 190 series (Carbon Fibre, it saves me a couple hundred) with either 488RC2 or 496RC2.

Are they good?

Not sure which particular models you are interested in the 055 or 190 series. If you are interested in 055XPROB and 190xPROB, they are very similar with the following differences:

190XPROB - supports 11 pounds

055XPROB - leg diameters 29.4, 25, 20 mm
109XPROB - leg diameters 25, 20, 16 mm

055XPROB - min/max. height 3.9"/70.3"
190XPROB - min/max. height 3.3"/57.5"

055XPROB - weighs 5 pounds
190XPROB - weighs 4 pounds

If you don't mind the extra pound, the 055X is a sturdier tripod. For myself I would go for 055XPROB given the reason I mentioned in my previous post. As for head I would go for 488 but have you looked at RC4 plate instead of RC2? They are very similar design but RC4 is a bit longer and works better with longer lenses.
