各位師兄師姐 must have taken many great pictures over the Holidays. How do you back up your files? If you don't do back up today, I strongly suggest you to think about your needs and options given there are so many bad stories about losing files due to disk failures and other incidents.

So how do you backup your files and how big is your photo library?

- External hard disk?
- Multiple desktop/laptop?
- USB flash drive?
- CD/DVD?
- Network based backup service?
- No backup?
- Others?

I have 250 GB and I use a network based backup service. Looking forward to hearing yours.

Network based backup service backs up your files to a remote location through the public Internet. You pay a monthly fee (i.e. 40 HKD a month), download a piece of software (Windows or Mac), do a few set up, and it runs regularly in the background automatically to back up your files.

The service I use is Backblaze in the US and it works great. I don't know whether the service can be used in HK or whether there is a similar service being offered in HK.

But the point for this post is any form of back up is better than no back up :).

Popeye, just wondering about practicality, are you mirroring your whole hard disk or just a portion?

I am using a 1.5T NAS in RAID 5 mode. And another HD in computer make a secondary backup of this NAS for the most important files.
