LP-E6 原廠電 has an IC inside. 7D body will detect the IC and prompt you "can't communicate to the battery" if it is a 副廠電 without the IC. Then You turn the wheel and answer "yes". The battery will work properly except can't display the battery level and shutter count.

The 原廠 charger also refuse to charge a 副廠電.

The battery will not damage the body. No 副廠電 equiped this IC until now. This is a cheat that Canon force you to use 原廠電 at cost >HK$500!. A 副廠電 with a charger just cost you <HK$200.
