Hi guys,
I am planning to buy the EF 85mm f1.8, should i buy a UV filter and lens hood? If so, which UV filter is good? I wonder if lens hood will be very useful.

85mm人像鏡只得1.8及1.2L兩支, 蔡司及拉架是手動又太貴, 別無選擇之下我昨日都入手了85.8, $2900幾抵玩, 我用Hoya 58mm HD UV(黑盒)夠哂玩, 本人覺得不需要嘥錢買B+W.

If you wish to have a AF of 85mm prime, wait a bit more for the Sigma 85 1.4.
It will be released very soon......

From the day sigma release 50 1.4, I know that there will be 85 1.4.....
I've been waiting for 2year already, I wait and see and didn't buy the c85 1.8
I thinks Sigma will release 35 1.4 in the coming 2 years too

我都用咗C85.8一年，呢支其實唔差，只略嫌通透感踭少少，如果SIGMA推出85.4，相信會搶走C85.8銷售量，我認為Canon有機會研發一支85.4去抗衡，NIKON 85.2 / 85.4 / 85.8 都有在市場發售，分開唔同嘅銷售對象，希望Canon加把勁吧！

我前日都買左c85.8, 呢支鏡其實算好抵玩, 2900有f1.8又有usm又內對焦, 得佢同埋28 f1.8先做到, 鏡身又靚, 但28f1.8要成4k, 足呎差成千蚊, 只係兩支鏡用法唔同~

↓ 5Dmk II + C85.8 Portrait 原圖無執過，可見到中央以外位置結像力唔夠，少少鬆... 但仍是一支超值鏡 ↓ (F2 / 640s / iso200)

上述這幅人像照係用F2拍攝的，可見model結像力不夠，這幅相若使用2.5光圈拍攝個model會sharp好多，C85.8呢支鏡非不得已的情況下拍攝人像照盡量勿用F1.8 - F2.2 range，起碼使用F2.5或以上才會有足夠銳利度，這是一張範例供師兄們多考，希望幫到想買呢支鏡嘅師兄。

wesleyyau Ching，S85.4好快推出市塲發售，我相信呢支SIGMA成像同色水養眼度會搶過C85.8，因S50.4前科有鑑，F1.4超大光圈非常有利，人像range在2-2.2已經sharp晒，看看NIKON 85.4就略知一二，＋分期待SIGMA 85mm F1.4！

I always buy a UV filter for any lens more for the physical protection than anything else. I usually go with something not too fancy and expensive such as Hoya. I don't think a hood is needed and I usually don't buy it separately if they don't come with the lens.
By the way EF 85mm f/1.8 is a great portrait prime lens on FF for the overall value. Do need to get used to the DOF when wide open.
