580對於旅行攝影有一定好處嗎。
因要同小孩子出門不想帶太多嘢。
將會帶40D+17/85kit len & 30.4 prime len.
Built-in flash 同 580對一個初學者有分別嗎。

It depends where are you going???
If you spend most of your time outdoor or for landscape photos, then you don't even need 580 and built in flash can do the job.
On the other hand, you visit a place with many indoor structure and portrait, then 580 is very helpful. But I don't really think you spend too much time taking night photos anyways??
Personally, I would not bring the external flash because of the extra weight and size. Also, you have built-in flash already and why bring extras?

Thank you Canon Ball. I think I'll take portrait more than landscape. I also heard that many C Hing said for taking portrait external flash is helpful for both in/outdoor. Do you think it applies to newbies like me? Or reverse?

You are right, external flash is good or both in and outdoor use. Especially, portrait photos.
If you don't mind to bring extra flash and you have money in-hand. I would definitely recommend 580EX II. I owned one, and I never regret buying it.

我每次出外旅行通常帶一機 (300 D，later 5D II) 二鏡（16-35 and 24-105）一燈(550 EX)。

外置閃燈很好用，戶外人像時遇到背光是常見的事，有外閃便可令主體與背景同時獲得正確曝光，當然內閃也有這種作用，但當用到長鏡或大口徑變焦鏡頭時，內閃因為升得不夠高而常被鏡頭前端阻擋，令照片的下半部出現難看的弧形陰影（幾乎所有的2.8大光圈的變焦鏡都有這個問題），改為採用外閃便可避免！

此外，拍室內人像時，用外閃可利用跳燈（天花反射）令光線柔化，成像更美。

背光影人除非天陰陰,否則內閃十之八九唔夠力,出猛太陽,就算用最高速同步,光圈值都分分鐘雙位數.220EX都唔多掂

Thank you for all recommendations. I had a chance to browse for Nissin this afternoon. It looks quite plastic to me. I prefer the Canon ones maybe. Can C Hing tell some pros & cons between 580Ex II & 430EX II in users point of views?
