Hi Bros,

Looking for a macro len for Canon 7D! Try Canon 100 Macro f2.8, seem a little too short! Therefore looking for 150mm or 180mm. Which of the following is better:

Canon 180mm Macro f3.5
Sigma 150mm Macro f2.8
Sigma 180mm Macro f3.5
Tamron 180mm Macro f3.5

Which one fit better for shooting bugs and butterfly? Of course price is also an issue!! Thanks a lot for your help bros!!!!!!

I have the Canon 180mm Macro f3.5 on my 5D Mark ii but have not played with other Marco lenses listed above. Overall I like the Canon 180mm very much but at the same time it does take some time and effort to get used to. For example it is quite hard to hand-held and pretty much need to use tripod for most of the time. At least for me.

180L seems the best for the 4 choices listed, just some ppl may choose S150 for its high CP value, and S150 is really good as well...

I have 3 macro lens, Tamron 180 mm has a high C/P ratio, aroung HK$ 5500. Canon 180mm 3.5L is the best PQ I see and is the most expensive. ( HK$ 12000, 18months before when I purchased). I have canon 100mm which is slightly shorter. I have no experience in Sigma.
For shooting butterfly, 150mm is the shortest distance for not disturbing them.
