Dear all Ching,

I am using Nikon D80 and D300s. This is the first time i am thinking to get a portrait lens.

Any comment for following match up?
Which one is better?

Voigtlander Nokton 58mm F1.4 SL II
Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50

Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/85 ZF.2
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G

This is the only one I've tried, so I can't comment if it is better than the others.

24-70mm f/2.8 is doing a great job as well.

85mm for shouder and head.105mm for any part of the body.For my experience.

For D300s, sigma 50/1.4 is one of the best lenses with affordable price, if wanna longer portrait lens, N85/1.8 is better

105mm is not easy to enlarge the face or parts of the body when you take close up photo due to the veiw angle of the lens.My opinion.

obi wan, how about zeiss 50mm F1.4 vs sigma F1.4??

One interesting option is Korean lens - Samyang 85/1.4. Although it can only do manual focusing, its quality seems to be very good & its cost is on the same level as Nikon 85/1.8D

sorry, only used Nikon 50/1.8, Canon 50/1.2, 1.4, 1.8 & Sigma 50/1.4, never used Zeiss 50/1.4 on Nikon/Canon system, so don't know whether Zeiss is better

If want good and cheap,used 85mm f1.4 AIS is a good choice for D300s.The best 85mm of Nikon.After 10 year you still can sell money,but Korea lens may be cannot.My view.
