I realise low-key images is not very popular in this forum.

Let me start sharing some photo here to begin. See if any bros or sis have some nice low-key for sharing as well.

To get it started. This is one of the low-key for my wedding client.

To Piero ching,

How can you make the photo like this? I've heard "low key" several times but I couldn't find a website that will technically teach how to shoot a "low key" image. If possible could you or other chings show me the link?

Low-key image meant:
- Very dark image
- Lighting is extremely tricky
- The histogram is all concentrated on 10-20% of the left hand side.
- It can be monotone, B&W, colour
- got nothing to do with saturation. You can desaturate the photo, but it is not what the low-key mean

where the high-key image is:
- Very bright image
- The histogram is all concentrated on the 10-20% on the right side

Thanks for everyone's attempt but those photos are not really what low-key image meant to be.

I hope the previous post answer you question about low-key image.

About how to get that image. I didn't do too much about it in post editing besides turn it into B&W.

You really need to see the light when you capture the photo. Especially for low-key. The use of light is very important and not easy to master as well.

There is no real clear definitely on low-key, but if you look at the histogram of all low-key photos, the curve are located in the 20% on the dark side.

That means only use light to outline your subject =D

No worries D2c & ringomov bro.

Show you one of my old photo, and this is the colour version but classify as low-key as well. So it's not necessarily a all black background. Can be quite creative.
