I think in HK, it's not as popular to rent lenses, so not much choice out there. That is why I wanted to ask people on the forum. Of course I would like to try a lens for a few

The deposit amounts are ridiculous though, basically the value of the lens. So I want to make sure these are trustworthy and don't close down while they have my deposit!! :P

No offence, but I m just wondering how long u have been working in this field?
Rent a pro was established in HK for more than twenty years! Renting pro gear is rather popular here. Otherwise they would have closed long ago.
Tell me, If u run that business. In order to make sure your customers treat your stuff well and return them to u after use. What would be your reasonable deposit rate?

If I were professional or if I had been taking photographs for 20 years, I wouldn't have to ask. My question was precisely to ask which rental places I could choose from in HK if I wish to rent a lens. I tried to google but it didn't come up with many hits, so I thought it would be convenient to ask experienced users at a forum who might also be able to provide some feedback about some of these rental outlets.

I do thank you for your quick response, but at the same time, do not understand the antagonistic and critical attitude. Forums are avenues for people to get information and to help each other out. I wouldn't be here if I knew everything.

You do your business the same time they do theirs. I can't see how "ridiculous" the deposit was. Meanwhile, I want to know how u gonna set the deposit rate if u were one of them.

OK, I admit that perhaps "ridiculous" was the wrong word to use. By that I only mean that to me personally that is a LOT of money. I am by no means implying that it is unreasonable. If the lens is worth that much, fair enough, they charge close to that value as a deposit. And that is why I wanted to find out which rental outlets are trustworthy, because they would be keeping a large amount of my money. I wouldn't want them to be saying I've damaged the lens or something and trying to keep my deposit when I've done nothing.

So it's great that you suggested Rent-a-Pro if they have been around for that long. Please understand that I am not trying to start an argument, but merely looking for some help and useful feedback from others.

First of all, I want you to know I m not in the photographic equipment renting industry. I m just a photographer.
But using your same kinda logic. What can they do if people rent their gear with a low deposit amount. After all, take it out and never return? They have their concern too!
Besides, there is an alternative way to deal with your situation. Pro do that too! You can buy the gear you need. Sell them after your job was done. Will you feel more secure that way?
