Nikon Coolscan 5000ED or Coolscan V ED ?? Post time: 1 月 15 日 |

To all "C Hing"
I am planning to scan my old 35mm films into my iMac, currently considering to buy Nikon Coolscan 5000ED or Coolscan V ED scanners. Not sure if any one of you guys used these two models before.
(1) If you do, are they good?
(2) Any ideas whether these two Nikon scanners are compatible with Mac?
(3) The Nikon scanners are really expensive. I noticed Cannon got a film scanner CanoScan 8800F selling at much cheaper price (< HK$2000), any ideas whether this Cannon scanner is good enough for simple scanning of my 35mm films?
Really appreciate if any "C Hing" can help to provide some info.
Thanks

Thx for feedback, snoopybee. Are you using a Mac with your 8800F? Although the brochure of 8800F states that it is compatible with Mac, but I wanna to make sure from the users that 8800F can really work well with Mac. I am using an iMac with 2GB 667 MHz SDRAM

No Paul, I'm using PC. Since it mentioned it is MAC compatible, I doubt there would be any problems at all.
I find this scanner is quite good as it can serve other purposes compared with the Nikon Coolscan. The spec saids 38secs for the Coolscan, I find 8800F does not differs significantly.
Another option is to get the 3800mx ?? The latest all in one printer scanner.
P.S. Although it seems that there're brand conflicts, I'm a Nikon DSLR user myself :p
