When compare these two lens:
a). Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical [IF]
and
b). Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG ASPHERICAL HSM

I know that Sigma is more expensive.

Which is better? In terms of image brightness and quality, any drawbacks?

又或者可以講下邊枝鏡頭最容易入塵, 當鏡頭吹水區又得唔得呢?

It depends on what your needs are really

This tamron is standard zoom lens replacement while this sigma is one of their first DG ultrawide zoom lens; they serve for different purpose.

Here's what I know

at the same range, the tamron will let more light through with it much larger aperture@f2.8 constant.

I think you wont be able to use any filter on the sigma with the shape of its front element sticking out, so lens hood on all times I think.

By the way, what body are you using them on?

I am using Canon 450D, I bought the Tamron SP AF 11-18mm LD Asperical (IF) now, it works quite well, it has a hood and the filter works pretty well, cause there is a lot of space between the aspherical lens and the filter, I plan to buy a CPL for this lens now.
