When the technician changes the lens, he will check if there is any other parts inside that's got mould or mildew and requires repair. If warranty has expired, of course, they should give you a quotation and let you decide if you want that extra repair, as that's going to be at your expense, extra expense.
In the future, you should really put your camera in dry box lah, esp. in spring time when humidity is really high.
BTW, my G10 also has mould problem. It's in the zoom rocker (the circular ring that you use to vary the zoom from wide to tele). It got some light green oxidation, possibly reaction to the metal surface due to the sweat of my last use. I just painted it black with a marker pen. I checked with C/S, guess how much it cost to change that little thing? $960. I will have to think twice for such a minor fix for this price,

Well, for your case, if the mould is inside the lens unit, it's better that you have it fixed as soon as possible, as it could spread. After all, mould is a living organism.
For more careful examination, switch on your camera at "shoot mode". If there is indeed mould, you should be able to see little dots/patches/circles of grey or green stuff under good lighting. If you really see them, there's got to be mould.
Anyway, you can just send it to Canon C/S for a in-depth check. Of course, if warranty has expired, the inspection alone will cost you (I guess about $300), but if there is going to be a repair job, the inspection fee will be "transferred" to the repair bill.
As far as I know, for problems with the lens unit of a DC, the only way to fix is a complete replacement of the entire lens unit, probably with the CCD.
Good luck!
