I have a same experience. My colleague was printing a catalogue using Photo 900 and we found that the print out was totally black. We were thinking that we did someting wrong. So we reprinted it again and it is then alright. We are using Window 98 SE and Freehand Version??(forget). We will check what actually happen and share with you our findings soon.

Try to replace a new USB or parallel cable. Shorter one will be better.

This is not related to the length of the USB cord since I am using one USB cord of 5m plus another USB cord extension cord of 3m. The quality is still very very good.

For your problem, I also got once in my printing for more than hundred times. I found that it was only happened in using Photo Quicker with PIM2 only. I think that it is because the photo can not support the PIM2 (eg. after editing, the Exif data for the PIM2 may be corrupted).
After I use the Photoshop for printing, this problem never occur again.

For your old problem that the photo paper will be damaged by the wheel of 900. I had tried to adjust the level (at the left rear part of 900) slightly and band the photo paper before feeding. 90% of this problem is solved.

For the black print out problem, it just happened to me again. I was printing a photo taken by my S45, which is not PIM support. I printed it using photo quicker 3.2. So if you are right, then there is still some other possible causes. Try find them out.

Hi Aliu,

I means it was only happened to me in printing by Photo Quicker or PIM and I never found this problem in printing by Photoshop 7.0.

Also, whenever I print it by Photo Quicker or PIM, I find that the pixels inside the photo printout is very rough and horrible.

I also found that if i set with "=photo enhance4 + RPM+ digital camera correcction" , rash-like spots appeared in human face. If I set Photoenhance 4 + Digital correctionn + best photo, the human face looks very rough.

Do you have the same problems?

Hi Aliu,

I get no such problem in my printing.

I find that the best way to print is to set with Photo Enhance (including Color=vivid, Effect=sharp, NEVER use "digital camera correction"), MUST set the gammar with 2.2, NEVER use fast printing, MUST set the printing mode as RPM, MUST use the Epson Premeium Glossy Photo Paper with correct selection of photo paper...for the color management setting, I forget the terms. Anyway, you set the color as sRGB... with "exeactly.." and never use the "same as source".

Also, you must band the photo paper (make it band towards the glossy side) before feeding in order to prevent from damage by the wheel.

Usually, under the above setting, the printout will be very excellent.
At least all my (more than 30 persons) friends are very surprise which photo shop can produce such excellent photo. Ater I tell them the photo is printed by myself, all of them can't believe until they see the logo at the back of photo paper.

Thanks Leo. You mentioned that you bent the photo paper towards the glossy side. Then did you feed the paper to the printer from the bent side.

Hi Aliu,

In order to reduce the cost of printing, usually I divid the A4 size photo paper into 4 pieces for printing 3R or 4R. Then, I will put the bent paper one by one in the correction position for manual feeding.
After printing more than hundred photos, my 900 is already burnt-in and it is quite difficult to find out any significant wheel mark again.

Don't forget to set the Gammar as 2.2 although using Photo Enhance.
Also, you must select the sRGB.. with "absolute.." since this setting of color management is quite fully matched with the Epson Premeium Glossy Photo Paper.
Never use any Photo Quicker, PhotoEnhance 4, Digital Camera Correction since the printout will be modified automatically and out of your control.
Must use RPM without Fast Speed instead of the Best Photo since it will be much more detail.

Although the Epson 900 is not so perfect, the quality of photo printout is very excellent. Thus, the Epson 900 is still my favour.

I hope that you can share my happyless of printing with the above setting.

Thanks Leo. The Epson printer will not serve us for photo printing any more. Any way, thank you very much for your advises. We are waiting for Canon i950. I think this machine may be a bench mark for desktop photo printings.
