I would like epson 895 ($950) But somebody tell me the printing head easy to damage . so I will try canon s750 ($1100) and hp3820 ($900), can you tell me which be better?

No idea of any of the printers printing quality you mentioned above. But if you use a printer for photo printing, I will suggest Canon. If you concern about building quality, then HP will give you trouble free. Epson? Look at the message post here and consider to buy it if you have won mark six before. Just my two cents. Thanks

Canon 同 Epson 我都用過 , 我反而兩部 Epson (720/750) 都用了幾年無事 , 反而部 Canon 用了剛剛一年就瓜柴了. (P.S.:可能我黑仔呱)

Fai : I will recommand Epson printer.
I try HP995cxi, Canon S800, Epson 895, Epson 810, Epson 830 before.
HP : image quality is not good enough fot photo especially for human
face.
Canon is OK but the color is a bit too red.
Epson is better for the dot pitch control and the color match is a lot better.

The price of Epson is cheaper, ink is in the middle range because the color ink need to be replaced all together, not separate as Canon.

The price of the ink from HP is too much and it is not durable.

I am using Epson 810 at home and HP 995cxi now.
Epson 810 is for sure better for photo printing and HP is more for document.

.....colour a bit too red...

We call this colour cast and is a problem of colour management. This is due to unmatching (colour profile) between the input device (eg, Dcam, scanner) and the output devices including printer, ink, paper.... This is not a problem of the printer alone. In other words, you may find colour cast appearing in your Epson 810 if you print photo captured by a different Dcam or using different photo paper, inks etc.

Thanks the the information Aliu.
I believe that I know about the color management and the profile that come with the printers.
I also set the right profile for those printers. I printed the same picture to those printers and I feel that the color of the picture that from the Canon S800 is a little bit too red compare to the Epson and HP.
I understand that some people like rich color and some like natual.
This is just my personal feeling.
I am using a Canon G2 and I am happy with the Canon products.

Unforturnatly my S800 has broken after 14 months. It may be just a exception case.

Colour profile come with the printer is general purpose profile and is not often working good. I am using "Profile Prism" to build my own profile which is not expensive. You may try.

I believe you should purchase the profile prism if you enjoy printing photo by your own. Otherwise it is pointless to invest thousands dollar or more in your dcam and printer. Right?

I am using Epson 895, and the printer head always block, and last time i waste almost whole ink to clean the nozzle, and make it works..... >_< so expensive..... i remember when i used HP930 does not have such problems.

about printing quality, 895 is quite good in photo printing (except its extremely red in color for human face...) and HP 930 i used is 4-color printer, sure photo printing quality not good.

but i do want to mention, epson printer is rubbish printer to print "word" ... since the fonts will blur and not sharp at corner. and using normal plain paper to print anything is a waste of ink.

therefore, if u have many many money to buy photo paper to print things (even documents), buy epson, otherwise, i prefer buying hp, canon, or even lexmark....

i am thinking to throw my epson 895 into rubbish bin, due to its poor quality on documents....

any idea of latest hp and canon printer? seems hp 6-color printer (5550) and canon 4-color printer (i850) also quite good. is it? (since i just want to pay less than $2000 to buy printer.

Hi Patwang,

If you concerns very much about document prints quality, you should consider to buy a Epson or Canon B/W laser printer. Some model costs you less than $2,000- with two free toners. If you also need photo printing, HP is the only choice. Canon six color printer is not good at document printing. I was told that HP black color ink is "pigment ink" while Canon is "dye ink". It makes HP the best document inkjet printer. Correct me if I am wrong.

Actually, i am thinking to buy HP 7150 or Canon S830D or Canon i850. But it seems HP ink is a little bit expensive, and it is 5pl ink drop, while i850 is 4 color with 2pl.... S830D is 2400x1200dpi, and other two were 4800x1200dpi ..... so, i am still thinking among those three.
