When I use the smartmedia card reader to copy the file to PC, I take away the first card then insert another one, but I cannot read the file second card again.
Add the DC and computer asked me to format the media card. How can I recover the files? The photos are important!

Have you tried unplug the card and unplug the whole adaptor and then insert the card and adaptor again? See if it still cannot read.
Sometimes when you finished reading the first card the computer still memorized the data. When you insert the second card immediately the card will confuse the computer.
