hi,

my 20D failed to auto focus in the dark and it keep on flashing without take the shoot when i press the botton.

is it a common problem of 20D?

Its flashing to let the camera do the focus process.
Or, you can set a external flash (with red beam) on top of the camera, the camera would use the red beam (built in the flash) to do the focus, instead of the flashing.

The autofocus system needs some light and contrasty objects to do its job. So it's difficult to autofocus in the dark or shoot something with plain colour. You can use a torch to light up the subject for AF, or just use manual focusing.
