Any example? I think the composition itself is very important. Also with 水墨畫效果 it cannot be too sharp. Need some blur. So I think the steps are:

1. Select your picture very carefully to fit the 水墨畫 feel.
2. Convert the picture to black and white and adjust contrast
3. Make it blur
4. Sign your picture just like a painter would :).

Here is the original untouched image of 水墨櫻花. It was taken by an Olympus E-P1 with the 17mm lens at ISO 250, f/4.0 and 1/60 sec in Raw. It was taken in a very early morning hence the sky is still a little light blue. This were the steps:

1. The composition and the "feel" of the picture does fit the 水墨畫 feel. I didn't need to do any cropping. The point here is try to do as much setting and composition while taking the picture and only rely on post processing as needed.
2. I use Lightroom 3 to process my picture. The only two adjustments I did was changed to Black and White AND set Clarity to -100. I could have make it lighter by adjusting Brightness or Exposure but I didn't.
3. I use Photoshop to add the Chinese text, the seal and the frame.



Also here is another version of the same picture that I called 彩繪櫻花. You probably can guess how this was done by now :).
