This is the Wai - O - Tapu Thermal Area...The area is literally coverd with collapsed craters, cold and boiling pools of mud, water and steaming fumaroles. The area is associated with volcanic activity dating back about 150,000 years with the first iindications of hydrothermal activity about 15,000 years ago.

The wide range of color in the area are all natural and are due to different chemical elements...
