A legendary 18 years old lens, with wonderful specs, performance, built quality. It has shallow depth of field, fast AF and is made in Japan. It is the only "pro" zoom lens for the DX format suitable for professional uses.
The lens feels great at first glance, pair well with my D5500. It is heavier than mirrorless lens, but is manageable with the already heavy DSLR body.
While Canon also has 17-55 F2.8 lens, Nikon version lacks the VR.
Originally I wish to buy this lens used out of curiosity but after playing it around for just a week, I decided to ask for a refund of the lens from a dealer in Mongkok. As i believe the lens has defects on aperture unit, causing many of my shots has inaccurate exposure. The dealer offered me to check the other lens in his collection, unfortunately, all seems to have the same problem to different degree, in the end a refund arrangement was made.
I won't recommend this lens to current DX users, given the age of this lens and wide-spread issues on aperture unit already occurring and there are better alternatives already.
