鷺發沖冠
在奧克蘭市的一個咸水湖邊紅樹林，有一群十只左右的白臉鷺。那里環影優美、湖邊有幾棵參天大樹給他們棲息，小溪川流不息的淡水流入紅樹林使水生物特別豐富。
而在食物最多的小溪入口，基本上是由一對白瞼鷺把守。一般其它鳥類在傍它們不理會，但凡同類來爭吃，一定飛去將其趕走。它們還視付來者是否本族群在這個湖覓食的，否則、它們一定將其趕出這個湖。今年初，有三只幼鳥(很可能是該對白臉鷺的兒女)會在它們附近覓食，逐漸成長大了。其中一只特別”逗”，時常來爭吃、挑戰父母。母鳥有時遷就它，飛遠一點讓讓它。但父鳥一定看不順眼，將它趕到遠處。而這只幼鳥時常不服氣、在空中繞圈子、豎起頭發、怒發沖冠的樣子，可愛又可笑。更有時它飛來我身后、讓我為它擋駕？
Whiteface Heron

There used to be a big group of the whiteface Heron in the Panmure Basin Foreshore. These two year it looks the number were down to about 10 or less some time. I am not sure if they are just a family group or two more. But in the best location, there is only one couple. They will fight any one away if any whiteface heron try to get near by. It looks like that they will only chase them out of their feeding area if they are from the same group. But they fight it out of this lake if from outside.
Even the young birds may from the same family, the dominion male sometime do chase it away.
I saw a young chick was so upset since he had been chased away by an elderly most of the time.
