Lens
1. One most under-valued M lens. 40mm focal length makes 50mm and 35mm virtually redundant. That’s why 40mm Cron is only in Leica’s most difficult days.
A golden foto rule: A most appealing focal length is one equivalent to film’s diagonal.
And 40mm Cron is it:

Sales of 35 and 50 Cron would wither should 40 Cron be a regular make.
2. Hence, Summicron-C 11542 (’73-77) was made to save Leica out of financial crisis brought along by M5’s debacle.
This lens (Lens) #2633957 (’73) is a ‘Year One’ Production, hence has some collection value.
Cosmetically mint, optically pristine, exceptionally well kept.
3. 40 Cron is also among Doug’s favorite Ms. He spent hours fully overhauling this one.
Service rendered include
(1) Meticulous cleanse of all optic surfaces, which, apart having slight haze, are nearly perfect

(2) Complete degrease & overhaul of aperture blades

Workload, speaking of servicing a 40 Cron, is tremendous.
It’s been a concern (esp. among older generation) over Cron-C’s alleged focusing shift.
According to Doug, some Cron-C do exhibit minor shift.
But this one, wide-open at minimal distance, is spot on. Focusing accuracy is truly remarkable (focal point: Doll’s eyes)

It’s even in better condition than many 6-Element (Summicron 35/2 11309, 1969-79) and outperform them.
