充滿愛心的余慕蓮是婦女們的學習對象。在貴州偏遠山區建「余慕蓮希望小學」，並非被動，無人向她募捐，她是領取了無綫為數二十多萬元的長期服務金，即是她的養老金，捐建費八萬元，是長期服務金的三分一，建成以她命名的希望小學，為本來沒有學校的山區小孩，帶來受教育的機會、脫貧的希望。現正有三百多名孩子受惠，帶出「勿以善小而不為」的訊息，一切是不問回報而為。
