sky100 Photo Competition 2023
Introduction
sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck is located on the 100th floor of International Commerce Centre, the tallest building in Hong Kong. The photographs taken at 393 metres above sea level encapsulate the myriad colours that morph within the clouds, with diverse views of the urban landscape set in the background.

Photography lovers both locally and overseas are cordially invited to enter this competition. The photographs must feature the sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck as its main theme, and must be taken in sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck or at the International Commerce Centre (ICC).

Photo submission between 12th July and 6th September 2023, the winners of the awards will take home great prizes, with a total value of more than HK$60,000. For the photography enthusiasts out there, do not miss out on this exceptional opportunity!
Judging Criteria & Requirement
  • Photos will be judged on creativity, originality, photo composition, photography skill and relevance to the theme.
  • Submitted photos through DCFever photo submission website are in .jpg, .jpeg format. Submitted photos on social media Instagram are in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .bmp or .gif format.
  • High resolution-original files will be requested should an entry make it into the final round of editing to be considered for an award, file format includes .jpeg, .tiff, raw or film.
  • Winners will be selected by sky100 Judging team, Jeffery Hon - Founder and Chief Editor of DCFever and Henry Lo.
How to enter
  • Entrants are required to submit photos at photo submission page (no limit on the number of submission) from 12 July to 6 September 2023.
  • Top 3 photos will receive an award by judging panel in each categories.
  • The results will be announced on sky100 and DCFever website on 25 September 2023, and all winners will be informed via their contact information on prize arrangement.

sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck is located on the 100th floor of International Commerce Centre, the tallest building in Hong Kong. sky100 features Hong Kong's fastest double-deck high-speed elevators, which reach the 100th floor in just 60 seconds, and introduces different facets of Hong Kong culture via various multimedia exhibits, including the "Sky-High Tech Zone" and the "Love is in the Sky" light show.

Jeffrey Hon

Jeffrey is a co-founder of the popular photography website DCFever, with over 25 years of photography experience. He is passionate about photography, and has published two instructional books on portrait and landscape photography. He planned the Hong Kong Camera and Imaging Festival in 2022, which attracted over 20,000 people to participate. In recent years, he has developed YouTube and social media platforms to promote photography culture.

Henry Lo

Henry is a travel photographer and native who is passionate about travel and photography. He has traveled to all seven continents and visited over 250 cities in 60 countries. In 2012, Henry created the "TravelnPhoto" page on Facebook and has now amassed over 94,000 followers. He has also published travel articles and photographic works in newspapers, magazines, and online platforms. He has been regularly invited by travel agencies, local media, and private organizations to give lectures on travel and photography.

Submission Guidelines
  1. Photo submission period is starting from 12 July to 6 September 2023.
  2. Each entrant is eligible for multiple submission and reward for one prize only in this Photo Competition.
  3. sky100 reserves the right to examine the original photograph/source material in order to confirm compliance with these rules.
  4. Photos must be digital format without watermark in .jpg or .jpeg format.
  5. Participants are prohibited from submitting images generated by artificial intelligence (AI). All submitted photos must be original works taken by the participants themselves. Any photos suspected of being generated by AI tools or other automated programs will be disqualified from the competition.
  6. All photos must be a single work of original material taken by the competition entrant.
  7. By entering the Competition, each entrants grants to sky100 and its authorised persons a fully paid-up, royalty free, perpetual, non-exclusive and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, edit, display, transmit, modify, publish and otherwise make use of each of the submitted photos for any of its publications, websites and/ or in any promotional material connected to the Competition, in all media (whether now known or to be created at any subsequent time wherever in the world), without making the Authority liable for compensation of any kind and without any notice or reference to the participant.
  8. Minor editing such as cropping, removal of dust, reasonable adjustment to exposure, color and contrast, white balance, are acceptable. Any computer-generated or over-edited work will not be accepted.
  9. Entrant must warrant that each photo he/she is submitting is his or her own work. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any photo he/she submitted has been taken with the permission of the subject and that it does not infringe the right of any third party or any laws.
  10. Each submission to the Competition must not contain content that is illegal, indecent, disturbing, provocative, offensive, intrusive, defamatory, or discriminatory of race, religion, gender or age.
  11. Judges will select the winners base on five criteria that are Originality, Relevance, Photo Composition, Creativity and Techniques. Before the announcement of winners, the potential winners will be required to submit the original photograph/source material in order to verify its originality.
  12. For any situations of delay, lost, mistake and unidentified due to technical problem of computer and network, sky100 is not responsible for that.
  13. sky100 reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who is found to be violating any rules of the Competition, tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Competition or the Website, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with the intent to disrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of the Competition, or to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, and sky100 reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.
  14. In case of any dispute, sky100 and the judges reserves the right to make the final decision which shall be final and binding.
