Light Weight
Kit set the lens is fairly decent
4 FPS is quite decent for an entry level
It has almost every function that the D90 has, which make it quite special for an entry level
The size of the camera, it really fit for those people who have small hand or for ladies
White Balance is really accurate than D90 ( I had been using my friend D90 for a while )
ISO control slightly better than D90
Image quality is fairly decent

Doesn't have internal motor
The quality of the camera feel like toys ( Fair enough for entry level )
Battery doesn't last long enough

This the First camera and first DSLR i even have in my life, this really get me into the camera world. I think is a fair price to buy an entry level of DSLR, what really important is that is a very user friendly camera, you can learn so much from it. One thing is that should buy the battery grip as well, it will feel much better while you holding it on hand.

After a year, i upgrade to D300s, but i still keeping the D5000.

Flip live view LCD.
Fairly decent reaction and focusing speed.
Light, compact and quite solid built. (my bro got a 500D and I feel not as solid)
User friendly.

Slow live view focus, sometimes make you think it will take forever.

My first DSLR, used it for almost 2 years now. Struggling to choose between D90 and D5000 but eventually go for the D5000 because of slightly higher configuration even though it doesn't come with a built in motor. Thus far I am very satisfy with the photos quality and it is quite user friendly.

- Live view對焦極慢
- 對焦偏慢, 同一支738VR用D5000/D90完全兩個速度
- 芒像素低, 效果往往同o向電腦睇有一定相差
- 對焦點唔多夠, 11點做3D Tracking成日迷焦/對唔到焦
- 拍片無得外置收音
- 無原廠直倒
- 男人用相對比較細部, 個人解決方法插副廠直倒

部機其實絕對好用, 去年7月用$4635既價錢購入Kit set, 相片質素真係幾好.
無摩打呢個問題, 反而我唔多介意
想玩定焦, 35.8o向DX咪仲好過50.8
AF70-300, 倒不如55-200VR啦仲有防震, 再唔係Tamron舊果支738/Sigma non-os 738

與D90比起來：
1. 無內建機身馬達
2. 無機頂螢幕，且機背螢幕僅2.7吋
3. 無雙轉盤

這是一台Nikon較輕巧的入門機。
翻轉螢幕在自拍以及拍攝一些特殊角度時相當實用。
操作容易，且俱備簡單後製功能，是DSLR新手極佳的選擇。

同D90差不太遠
比較容易操控
有後製玩

無機身motor...(不過作為入門機，有d鏡逼住用手動對焦反而學多好多野)

我玩左呢部機一年，無後悔。本人覺得呢部機好適合一d略懂基本理論，但又未試過玩單反的新手。雖然個人認為反Mon用途不大，但係本人反而覺得部機係鼓勵用家嘗試不同角度去影相，d人成日話d90有motor但d5000無，不過我覺得，對一d有心學攝影既人黎講，呢部機絕對俾到機會你去試手動對焦......雖然話係入門機，但係影相質素唔係入門，反而用呢部機對有心升級但係技術未成熟既用家有一定好處...

Photos colour better than D90 , I use D90 few months before!
Smaller than D90 , a bit bigger than D3100, function nearly the same as D90!
For me , some functions from D90 is useless.
Easy to handle.
Good for beginner.
Use 18-105mm VR , good match.
Planning to buy the AFS 35mm f/1.8g later because I like to shot at anytime at anywhere.
Battery is good enough.

LV focus too slow but no big deal.

Consider to get the D300s before ,but still concern about the weight.
Finally get the D5000 to match a bit high end Nikon lens.
No regret because the pictures quality is super satisifed !
